Yaki Onigiri is a rice ball fried with soy sauce and one of the few things I make. I couldn't find my rice form so I just shaped them by hand.

They turned out pretty well so I wanted to photograph them looking tasty.

Ingredients:
Sushi rice (a short grain)
Soy sauce
Cooking oil or butter
Vinegar (option)

First cook the rice normally in a rice cooker or pan. You will need to then shape the rice. Let it cool a bit so you don't burn your hands before shaping. Also dip your hands in water or vinegar to keep the rice from sticking to them. Then shape rice into triangles or whatever shape you want.
You will need to heat a frying pan with the oil or butter. Brush your rice balls on one side with soy sauce and cook that side. While it's cooking, you can brush the other side with soy and flip it over.
You can also grill these on a hibachi grill instead. They are best when they're a little crispy on the outside.
You can also add things in the middle of the rice when you make them.

I must thank you for posting this recipe. The last time I tried to make yaki-onigiri I ended up with a bunch of blackened rice, a messy frying pan, and lots and lots of smoke o_o;

Do you eat the normal white rice onigiri with seaweed?
This one is also made of white rice, but is toasted with soy sauce. :)
